As if its My Last

August 9, 2007

Don’t stop me now

I’m running this race

Don’t stop me now

I’ve set myself this pace

I’ve been running all my life

And You’re getting in the way

Leave me alone, I’m gonna go, You stay

Chorus

You say, “look at the sun,

at the stars and the sea.”

You say, “Look at them, and there you’ll see me.

Take time and smell the roses

Watch the rain fall from the sky

I love you my child, stop living so fast

And live each moment as if its your last.”

Well I wish I could slow down,

But I’m stuck on this path

Of always living ahead

And going way too fast

I don’t have time to stop and smell or see

So I’ll keep running, You stay and be.

Chorus

You say, “look at the sun,

at the stars and the sea.”

You say, “Look at them, and there you’ll see me.

Take time and smell the roses

Watch the rain fall from the sky

I love you my child, stop living so fast

And live each moment as if its your last.”

Bridge

And I hear you say again and again,

“I love you child, stop living so fast

Eventually, You’ll fall and crash.

Trust me, my child, don’t worry about tomorrow

Focus on today, I’ll be there in the sorrow

Be still, my child, and know , that I am God.”

Ok Lord, Please slow me down

But I’m scared, so scared that I’ll drown

In the crashing waves of my life running me over

Ok, god take over, Lord, please make me over

I will look at the sun

And the sea of blue

I’ll look at them, and there I’ll see you.

I’ll take time and smell the roses

I’ll watch the rain fall from the sky

Take care of me Lord, when I stop living so fast

And I’ll live each moment as if its my last.

Well it seems its time to start updating this thing again... mainly cause I have a lot on my mind and want somewhere to put it.  I'm in the middle of SLA training for this coming year. What is an SLA? well, It stand for Spiritual Life Advisor and has many different... definitions.  Here's some of the things we've come up with:
1. An intentional friend
2. A source for students to turn to with problems
3. A spirtual perspective
4. Someone to talk to
5. the older person in the dorm who cant directly get the girls in trouble.

Basically, I live in a freshmen dorm and i'm really here with the girls through anything they're going through. I will lead a small group in the dorm every week, but the position is really so much more. I will pretty much always have my door open and be willing and wanting to talk to the girls any time. I've already been praying for my girls who are coming and I'm am so excited for the day they get here.
All of the SLAs are split into families. Basically, its the SLA's who are serving in the same area of dorms that I am. I love my family. Its really cool to get to meet some new people and really get to know who they are and what they're doing in their lives.
Tonight we got to go to the President of Pepperdine's house to swim and eat dinner. After, we had a time of worship and Andy (the pres) talked to us for a while. He is an amazing man of God and really has made a difference in the lives of so many students at this school.
We've been talking a lot about strengths. According to Gallup's StrengthsQuest test my top five strengths are:
1. Belief
2. Developer
3. Communication
4. Strategic
5. Empathy
There's a lot more to them, than just the names, but I dont really feel like going into them right now. Just something I've been thinking about a lot lately.
Time to run,...really. i'm going running.
peace out late

It has been way too long since i updated this. This week of classes was nothing too special. other than the fact that i'm in Germany of course!! :)  O yah... wait i almost forgot. On wednesday we took a field trip to frankfurt. we went to this like rebuilt  roman fortress thing. and then we went into frankfurt and got to explore a little (i got an entire outfit  like pants, shirt, headband, and fleece for 37 euro.)  So that was a long day, but it was also when everyone started getting sick. We had one guy have to go to the hospital and a bunch of other people get really really sick with the flu this week. Two girls in my room area got real sick so thursday night  alyssa and i slept on the couches down stairs so we would'nt get sick.

So we had a long weekend this weekend because tomorrow is a holiday so we had our monday classes on friday and then we had monday and tuesday off. So we went to PRAUGE!!! It was me, alyssa, ben and jeremy. it was incredible. There are tons of new pics up on my flickr. (www.flikr.com/photos/scubachik8) that show the amazing city. So we spent two full days in Prague wondering around and seeing the sights (castles, museums, bridges, etc...) And then this morning we got up and went to the train station. We took a train from Prague to Nuremburg and hung out there for a while. We went to the place where the Nazi's held their rallies and stuff. The museum place was huge and very interesting.

After that we had some amazing chines food and headed back to Heidelberg! its pouring rain here. The trip was amazing but it does feel good to be back. tomorrow is study/regroup day. God is soooo good :)

Today i went to the zoo!!! we woke up around 9:30 or so and ate some food and such. then alyssa, ben and i set off for the zoo. we saw some very cool animals and it was awesome being 3 19 year olds walking around the zoo. i swear we were the only ones there between the ages of 10 and 30. but it was still way fun. Then we came back. on the way back we stopped at the train station and figured out our plans for our trip to Prauge next weekend!! i'm sooooo excited about that trip. its gonna be so incredibly awesome. Anyway... so after that we came back and i called my mommy and daddy. and it was sooooooo wonderful to talk to them! i wish i could have talked to them longer but i had to go to dinner..where we had my favorite soup!
after dinner was house church which was really cool.  Mrs. Dr. Perrin talked about worrying. and how we need not worry and stuff. She focussed on the passage in matthew 6:

" 25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

We've all heard that passage so many times, but its one of those that can still hit you differently every time you hear it. So that was awesome. After that i studied, studied studied... wayyyyy too much reading tonight.  I need to stop procrastinating so i dont have so much reading to do all at once. cause i hate having tons to read in a little amount of time. like if i can spread it out , then good.... goal for this week:  read a lot in the evenings so i can spread out the massive amounts of reading.

Today was an awesome day. I GOT MAIL! Kadie send me a letter in the mail and it was awesome. cause i got a little homesick after talking my mommy and daddy and then i was all stressed out from the reading and i walked downstairs and the mr. dr. perrin said "o lindsey, there's mail down there for you." and i got very excited! and it made me very happy.

well time to finish the day and get some sleep.... problem: when i was studying i got very tired so i had some coffee and now i cant sleep.

oktoberfest!

omg today was like the longest day of my life. We left at 12:45 AM to leave for the train station for Oktoberfest and salzburg.... our train was like an hour late so that was sad.  but we finally, after waiting forever, got on the train and when we finally found a place to seat, we got a couple hours of sleep before ariving in Munich around 8am.  We walked from  the train station to oktoberfest and after finding the bathroom, we went in the Augustiner tent (where we stayed most of the day) and got  a table. I must say it was some good beer. We had tons of fun. Our group got to be pretty big which made it even better. in the end, we had me, alyssa, ben, jessica, felicia, stephen, peter, sabrina, pam, alysha, cate, and kristy... so big group... but so fun. The Oktoberfest itself is huge!! i feel like we barely saw any of it cause it was so big. The room we were in held 8000 ppl and it was packed. the one next door held 10000. It definietly is quite an experience.
However, we ended up getting split up from our group for a bit and lost them. And some miscommunication caused it that ben, alyssa, and I ended up having to come back on our own. We were all so exhausted and so worn out that we decided to come back to HD tonight instead of going on to Salzburg. We will definitely go to Salzberg sometime soon, but this weekend just wasn't the weekend to go. So we have tomorrow and Sunday to catch up and relax. Next weekend is Prague!!! i'm ssssuuuuppppeeeerrrr Excited about that!
I'm at that point right now where i've been up forever so i feel like i could just keep going and going....but i know the second i turn out the light, i'll be gone for the night. so i'm gonna go do that right now....
